AAA Cares Program Helps Fight Food Insecurity Across Central Pennsylvania
This summer, AAA Central Penn is continuing its commitment to helping neighbors in need through its annual Ending Hunger initiative. As part of the effort, AAA Central Penn recently presented a $1,000 donation to the Huntingdon Food Pantry, helping support individuals and families facing food insecurity throughout the Huntingdon community.
Through AAA Cares, employees, members and community supporters have come together to raise awareness and funds for local food banks during a time of year when the need is especially great. Summer can be particularly challenging for families, as many children lose access to school meal programs while classes are not in session.
“Everyone deserves access to enough food to support themselves and their families,” said Jodie Daubert, President and CEO of AAA Central Penn. “We are committed to helping end hunger by supporting our neighbors and local food banks. Together, we can create a future where no one goes hungry, and every donation to local community programs brings us one step closer to making that vision a reality.”
The Huntingdon Food Pantry has served the community for more than four decades and currently assists up to 135 families each month, while also supporting three local school districts. The organization provides monthly distributions of nutritious food and essential household staples, ensuring that residents have access to resources when they need them most.
“The generosity and support from our local community and organizations like AAA Central Penn allows us to continue serving our community in need,” said Jean Feagley, director of the Huntingdon Food Pantry.
The donation was made in honor of Rob Yelnosky, who served on AAA Central Penn’s Board of Directors for more than a decade and was a strong advocate for supporting local communities.
Ending Hunger is a nationwide initiative bringing AAA clubs together to combat food insecurity and raise support for local hunger-relief organizations. To further amplify its impact, AAA has partnered with Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.
AAA Central Penn is proud to support organizations like the Huntingdon Food Pantry through its AAA Cares program, which encourages volunteerism and community involvement among employees. By working together, we can help create stronger, healthier communities and ensure that fewer families go hungry.
