Did you miss Pennie’s Open Enrollment period for Pennsylvania Marketplace individual health insurance? If so, you may still be able to enroll right now.

Pennsylvania offers a special program called Path to Pennie, which allows uninsured individuals under age 65 to enroll in individual health insurance before the next Open Enrollment period.

What Is Path to Pennie?

Path to Pennie connects uninsured Pennsylvanians to health coverage through the state tax filing process. If you qualify, you can enroll in marketplace coverage outside of the regular Open Enrollment window—and potentially receive financial assistance.

How does it work?

When completing your Pennsylvania state tax return, you’ll be asked to fill out Form REV-1882: Health Insurance Coverage Information Request. This form includes basic questions about your household and your health insurance needs, as well as whether you’d like to receive information from Pennie.

Here’s what happens next:

  1. The PA Department of Revenue securely sends your information to Pennie.
  1. Pennie creates an account for you.
  1. You receive a letter in the mail with:
    • An access code
    • An estimate of potential financial savings or tax credits (if you qualify)
  1. You’ll have 60 days to apply, shop, and enroll in a health insurance plan.

Health insurance helps reduce financial stress by covering medical expenses, providing access to essential care, and including free preventive services.

Already filed your taxes?

No problem! You can still take advantage of Path to Pennie by amending your tax return and completing Form REV-1882. This allows you to enroll in the Pennsylvania Marketplace even if you’ve already filed.
