Cozumel is proof that Mexico can do ‘island flavor’ with the best of the Caribbean. Cozumel offers a huge variety of things to do, see, taste and explore. This island just happens to be perched atop a coral reef, which promises hours of snorkeling or scuba diving fun. Cruises to Cozumel dock at the island’s heart, just minutes from San Miguel’s seafront shops and the white sand beach at Chankanaab National Park.
Fun Things to Do:
- Tour the ancient city of Tulum. Rising high above the sea, Tulum is a place where Mayan history meets the colors of the Caribbean.
- Visit Xcaret Eco-Archaeological Park, one of the most important natural theme parks in the Americas.
- Test your balance and stand up paddle board along the gorgeous Caribbean coast line.
Costa Maya, Mexico
Costa Maya is known for its contrasting ecosystem along with beaches, tropical forests and coral reefs. For history enthusiasts visit the Mayan ruins that date back to 360AD. If you prefer, take a day to relax on the beach or shop at the modern shopping mall or any of the unique small shops in the central plaza.
Fun Things to Do:
- Experience the area on a dune buggy and beach safari experience.
- Enjoy the beautiful area on a catamaran sailboat or snorkel in the pristine clear water.
- Visit the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins situated in a secluded jungle setting near the border of Belize.
Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan
Mahogany Bay, located on the largest of Honduras’s Bay Islands, is a real beauty, built on a backbone of volcanic rock and ringed by the world’s second largest coral reef. With silky-sand beaches and diamond clear seas, the island of Roatan is one of the Caribbean’s hidden gems.
Fun Things to Do:
- Ride the Magical Flying Beach Chair from the Mahogany Bay welcome center all the way to Mahogany Beach. The ride makes a great photo opportunity so be sure to bring your camera.
- Enjoy a day of relaxation and adventure at Big French Key, one of the most exclusive and pristine keys in Roatan.
- Glide through the jungle on 7 zip lines that provide a bird’s eye view of the flora and fauna on the island.
