Highlights

George Town, Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman Island is a jewel in the Caribbean, known for its high quality of living. While the island itself may seem flat, a peek into the blue green Caribbean waters surrounding the island will tell a different story entirely. The waters just offshore are home to large coral reefs and steep sea walls that create conditions perfect for snorkeling and diving.

Fun Things to Do:

  • The Oro Verde site, home to wreckage from a 1976 transport ship has been repurposed into an artificial reef and now provides a home to a plethora of marine life. This makes it an ideal and interesting spot to take a dive.

  • Gain a perspective of all that this island has to offer by visiting the Camana Bay Observation Tower. This 75ft tower offers 360° views from the top, which you can access by climbing a staircase or riding an elevator.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

This tiny town (pronounced Kraal-en-dake) is the capital of the Dutch island in the Caribbean. Its center encompasses all 3 blocks, where you’ll find brightly painted Dutch-Caribbean buildings, sidewalk cafes, and the oldest outdoor fish market in the region. Images of flamingos, Bonaire’s national symbol, line the sidewalks. On the southern tip of the island is Willemstoren lighthouse, created in 1837.

Things to do:

  • Tour Fort Oranje, a fort built in the 1600’s to defend the island but its guns were never fired. It is now home to the harbormaster and the courthouse.

  • Stop in Museo Boneriano to catch a glimpse of the early history and lifestyle of Bonaire. View paintings depicting island myths and celebrations and an extensive shell collection. The shell collection is on the restricted list of souvenirs in Bonaire. The collectors, who had spent years at their hobby, gave their entire collection to the museum when shell gathering was declared illegal.

Oranjestad, Aruba

With its charming Dutch-Colonial architecture, Oranjestad, Aruba, is a wonderful place to explore. This capital city and the largest city in Aruba offers a multitude of wonders all within walking distance. Fort Zoutman, a fort and tower built in 1869 to honor the King of the Netherlands at the time, is the main attraction.

Things to do:

  • Visit the Historical Museum of Aruba at Fort Zoutman/Willem III Tower, a museum housed in the oldest building in Oranjestad. View artifacts, maps, photographs, and old documents that tell of the history and culture of Aruba.

  • Stroll through Renaissance Marketplace, offering a variety of cafes, cozy eateries, souvenir shops, nightly entertainment, and a seaport Casino.

Willemstad, Curacao

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due mostly to its collection of historic buildings, Willemstad is a welcoming, upbeat destination. It is divided into two parts: Punda and Otrobanda, connected by two different bridges and both offering a different style. Punda, the oldest part in town, provides old-world Dutch ambience with many of the town’s historic buildings. Otrobanda or “The Other Side” offers more of a contemporary, fairytale feel, with stunning views such as Handelskade: the most photographed row of Dutch Colonial buildings in the city.

Things to do:

  • Curacao Sea Aquarium offers the most complete collection of Caribbean fish in the world. Take part in the Animal Encounters program where you can feed sharks or interact with stingrays, angelfish, tarpon, and groupers. Also, experience Dolphin encounters or take a submarine tour aboard the Substation Curacao.

  • Walk down the Floating Market on the waterfront. Merchants sail the short distance from Venezuela to sell fresh fish and produce directly from their vessels under an array of colorful awnings.

*Please see your Travel Agent to reserve your choice of shore excursions.*

Tour Activity Level: 2
This tour requires average physical activity. You should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground and cobblestoned streets.
