It will be the 19th anniversary since the unforeseen, terrorist attack against our nation on September 11th, 2001. Join us and the HACC Alumni Association as we pay our respects to the fallen, and hear from our bravest heroes as they recount their experiences surviving one of America's darkest days.

Pay your respects during a visit to the Flight 93 National Memorial, located at the crash site of United Airlines Flight 93, which was hijacked during the September 11, 2001 attacks. The memorial was designed to honor the passengers and crew, who bravely stopped the terrorists from reaching their intended target. At the Visitor Center, explore exhibits which pay tribute to the heroes, and detail the events of September 11th. Included in the tour is the Memorial Plaza, where the Wall of Names commemorates the 40 heroes of Flight 93. The 93 foot Tower of Voices, houses 40 wind chimes – one for each passenger and crew member who died in the crash.
Enjoy lunch at the Coal Miners Café. Following lunch visit the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site, where you’ll hear the miraculous account of the nine miners who were trapped 240 feet beneath a farmer’s field in 2002; learn about the challenges that occurred during their rescue. Before departing for home we’ll stop at the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel, where you’ll see personal items and mementos of the heroes of Flight 93. The chapel which was inspired by the passengers and crew, includes portraits and personal biographies of each passenger and crew member. You’ll also have an opportunity to see the Crew Monument, “Forever in our Hearts”.
6:00AM: Motorcoach will depart HACC’s Lancaster Campus, located 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike.
7:00AM: Motorcoach will depart from HACC’s Harrisburg Campus located One HACC Drive, Harrisburg; travel to Liberty State Park with a rest stop en route.
6:00PM: Approximate departure time for Central Pennsylvania with a fast food dinner stop en route.
9:00PM: Approximate arrival time back in Harrisburg.
10:00PM: Approximate arrival time back in Lancaster.
Tour Activity Level 2:
This tour requires average physical activity. You should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground and cobblestoned streets.
Full payment of $189 per person is due to AAA with this registration to confirm your reservation.
Day of payment to day of departure: No refunds.
For your protection AAA recommends travel insurance. Pre-existing medical conditions may be waived with proper coverage if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of initial deposit only. Other conditions may apply; ask your travel agent. AAA recommends Allianz.
Temperatures for Shanksville, PA in September average in the 70s. Casual clothes and comfortable walking shoes are recommended; be prepared for potential inclement weather.
For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the needed assistance.
