Admire the eclectic mix of architecture, culture and cuisines of one of the world’s most livable cities. Embark on an exploration of the ‘City by the Bay’ and its iconic sights. Later embark on an afternoon cruise beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. Spend the rest of the afternoon navigating the city’s cosmopolitan neighborhoods at leisure, then join your Travel Director for a dinner at a local restaurant.(Breakfast, Dinner)
Saturday, July 4, 2020 – San Francisco - Sonoma - Napa
We leave our hearts in San Francisco this morning, as we make our way across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge towards California Wine Country. Travel back to an elegant age and board the Napa Valley Wine Train. Enjoy a regional cuisine lunch as you journey through the country side sampling wine aboard. Proudly continuing the railroad traditions of yore, the train offers a truly unique and memorable experience. Upon arrival, get acquainted with Sonoma with an orientation tour. Sunday, July 5, 2020 – Wine & Olive Oil Tasting
Today we join a Local Specialist to craft our own combination of Carignane, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel at Ravenswood Winery. Later, visit the Jacuzzi Family Vineyards for an exclusive tour and wine tasting. We continue to explore the property including the Olive Press Olive Oil Tasting Room. Take a tour to learn about the harvesting process and the making of olive oil. The evening is then yours to spend any way you like. Stroll historic Sonoma Plaza and browse the unique gift shops that line the square. Perhaps dine at one of the delicious restaurants in historic Sonoma Plaza. (Breakfast)
Monday, July 6, 2020 – Botanical Gardens & Wine Tasting
Set in a secluded garden of tranquil ponds, gently rolling paths and scenic vistas, visit the Quarryhill Botanical Gardens, famed for its vast collection of plants from East Asia. We then make our way to Chateau St. Jean to enjoy a selection of Chateau St. Jean Reserve wines while you tour through Chateau St. Jean’s history and philosophy of wine making. Nestled in the heart of the stunning Sonoma Valley, Chateau St. Jean offers wine lovers an idyllic getaway to soak in the Sonoma wine lifestyle, with incredible vineyard views, a dramatic mountain backdrop, lush gardens, and the elegant 1920s chateau. A luxury three course wine paired meal awaits you before transferring to McEvoy Olive Ranch where you’ll see the private side of the Ranch with an in-depth tour, wine flight with enhanced ranch nibbles, and cheese platter. Visit Chateau Montelena, established in 1882, one of the oldest wineries in Napa Valley. Enjoy a tasting in a private residence, featuring older vintages. Chateau Montelena’s long and distinguished history of producing fine wines are showcased in their rich 137-year history. Next visit an authentically-styled 13th century Tuscan castle winery. After a guided tour of Castello, enjoy their premium and reserve wines coupled with unique pairings. Air arrangements are handled by the tour operator. Seat assignments cannot be confirmed until the tour operator releases names to the airlines 30 days prior to departure. Specific seat requests cannot be guaranteed. Some flight schedules may contain code share agreements.
Temperatures for Northern California in July average in the high 60s with cooler mornings and evenings. Pack for a variety of temperatures. Casual clothes that can be layered work best along with comfortable walking shoes.
One suitcase per person will be allowed. You may also bring a carry-on bag small enough to fit under your seat. Baggage fees and other charges may be directly assessed by airlines or airport.
For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the needed assistance.
