Morning arrival at the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem where you’ll view incredible history and architecture. You will be introduced to the earliest history of the Bethlehem community. Discover the remarkable stories behind Bethlehem’s founders, early Moravian medicinal practices, communal living, missionary work, and progressive educational system.
Visit the Central Moravian Putz for a retelling of the story of Christ’s birth through narration and music, while tiny lights illuminate each miniature scene. Putz is from the German word “putzen” meaning “to decorate.” The figures in Central’s Putz, many of them antiques of German origin, are displayed amidst live moss, driftwood and rocks. This afternoon enjoy a catered lunch in the historic 1869 Luckenbach Mill.
Following lunch you will have free time on Main Street in Bethlehem and at the Christkindlmarkt. Here you’ll find aisles of handmade works by more than 150 of the nation’s finest artisans. Enjoy delightful sounds of live Christmas music and jolly, old St. Nick’s hearty laughter. There will also be ice carvings, glassblowing demonstrations, handmade ornaments, nutcrackers from Germany and much more.
Sit back and experience the Christmas City on a trip back in time with a costumed guide for the Bethlehem by Night tour. The tour is filled with a visit to the famous star atop South Mountain, and a look at some early and current local holiday traditions, all while learning the history of the town.
