Highlights

Join AAA on this unique small group tour designed to savor the authentic flavors found in the local dishes and wine of Croatia. Our small group size provides an opportunity for us to get closer, and provide a more immersive travel experience – a perfect way to explore Croatia. We believe the food and wine focus is a vital and personal part of the experience, often bringing people together in unexpected ways, thus we have included meals and wine tastings which showcase the region’s cuisine and culture. The last thing we want to do however, is over-engineer the experience and thus our purposely designed trip also includes plenty of free time to sample the local dishes your way, enabling you to choose the flavor of your adventure based on your taste and budget.

Itinerary

Friday, September 18: Depart for Croatia

Motorcoach from Central PA to local International Airport for overnight flight to Zagrab. (Airfare to be added once available.)

Saturday, September 19: Zagreb

Welcome to Zagreb, capital and cultural heart of Croatia. Arrive today at your hotel, where you’ll connect with your fellow travelers and Club Adventures Local Leader for a welcome meeting, followed by dinner. Your leader will take you to one of the local breweries (Medvedgrad) for an introduction to Croatian food. Hotel: Hotel Garden, Zagreb (Dinner)

Sunday, September 20: Zagreb

After breakfast, our Zagreb Insider Expert will lead us on a walking tour of the historic city, visiting highlights like the Gothic Cathedral, Parliament and Ban Jelacic Square. Afterward, join your Club Adventures Local Leader for lunch, sampling strukli – a traditional staple in this part of Croatia. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy and explore on your own. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Monday, September 21: Zagreb, Rovinj & Motovun

Continue your journey today to Rovinj. Rovinj is a small fishing town with a strong Italian flavor. On arrival, join your leader for lunch, before going on a small orientation walk. Enjoy wandering around the cobblestone streets and central promenade. We’ll visit the church of St. Euphemia. Later in the evening, we arrive in Motovun, where we’ll enjoy a wine tasting. Hotel: Hotel Kastel, Motovun (Breakfast, Lunch)

Tuesday, September 22: Motovun

The Motovun Forest is the best place for hunting Istrian truffles. Join your leader on a truffle hunt (depending on the seasons), and afterward, take part in lunch that, of course, includes truffles. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy on your own. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Wednesday, September 23: Motovun & Plitvice

This morning we head south to Plitvice Lakes National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the largest national park in Croatia, and one of the most beautiful national parks in Europe. On arrival, we check in to our hotel before taking a walk through the park, soaking up the endless waterfalls and spectral blue lakes. Tonight enjoy a local dinner with the group. Hotel: Plitvicka Vila Rakovica, Plitvice (Breakfast, Dinner)

Thursday, September 24: Plitvice & Split

From the forestry region of Croatia, we continue south to the seaport of Split (UNESCO World Heritage Site) Split is reminiscent of the French Riviera. On arrival, enjoy some free time before joining your Insider Expert for a local tour to learn more about the striking combination of Roman, Venetian and Hapsburg influences which were impactful to the history of Split. The rest of the evening is yours to explore and enjoy Split on your own. Hotel: Hotel Peristil or similar, Split (Breakfast)

Friday, September 25: Split & Brac

Hop aboard a ferry to the island of Brac. Brac is known for a special white stone used in building the White House in Washington, D.C. Upon arrival, your Club Adventures Local Leader will take you to explore the small inland village of Dol, where you will enjoy an included lunch. In the afternoon, we head back to Split to enjoy an evening unscripted. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Saturday, September 26: Split & Dubrovnik

After leaving your hotel in Split, we’ll take a short walk down to the port where we’ll catch a ferry cruising between Croatian islands en route to the city of Dubrovnik. On arrival you will have a private transfer from the port to your accommodation. Afterwards, an Insider Expert will introduce you to the pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Take a walk along the Dubrovnik wall overlooking the waves of sea on the one side and the small narrow streets of 13th century old town on the other. In the evening free time will be provided in old town where you can explore many of the restaurants or just grab a drink while people watching. Hotel: Hotel Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik (Breakfast)

Sunday, September 27: Dubrovnik

Today is a free day at your leisure. Perhaps you’ll choose to take a well-deserved rest and enjoy the beaches close to your hotel. Or if you feel like you have not explored enough, meander back to the old town. Peek in numerous museums inside the old town, take a cable car up Srdi Hill, which overlooks the city and ocean, or take one of the ferries to the neighboring island of Lokrum. (Breakfast)

Monday, September 28: Depart for USA

After breakfast, transfer to the Dubrovnik Airport for your flight home and transportation to Central PA. (Breakfast) Hotels and itinerary are subject to change at any time without notification and/or compensation.
