5:30AM: Motorcoach will depart from Lancaster, AC Moore store, Lancaster Shopping Center on the Oregon Pike / Route 272 side of the store.
6:30AM: Depart from Harrisburg, AAA Central Penn, 2301 Paxton Church Road, behind the building upper parking lot; travel to Farmington, PA with appropriate rest and meal stops enroute. We’ll start our morning with a unique stop at the Old General Store and Country Pie Shoppe. The store offers old-fashioned candies & fudge, old-fashioned soaps, wooden toys and more. Be sure to check out the Pie Shoppe for delicious baked goods. You can find anything from pies to cookies and everything in between! We’ll continue onto Nemacolin Woodlands Resort to enjoy a delightful lunch in a beautifully appointed private room. Following lunch, experience a private art tour consisting of nearly 1,000 individual pieces valued at over $45 million.
The Hardy Family Art Collection graces all aspects of the resort from the Presidential Suite to the Auto Toy Store. Later arrive at Fallingwater for a guided tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s house, led by a professional interpreter. We’ll discuss how he utilized the architecture of the home to integrate the house with its beautiful natural landscape. You will become aware of the rhythmic interplay between interior and exterior space by the numerous terraces, open-air walkways and unexpected views of the trees and water. The last stop of the day will be Christian W. Klay Winery for wine tasting. This evening arrive the Historic Victorian-style hotel with time to freshen up before having dinner at the hotel. Hotel: Historic Summit Inn, Farmington, PA. (Lunch, Dinner)
Sunday, November 8: Kentuck Knob, Mantyla House, Duncan House and Flight 93 National Memorial
The day will begin with a full American buffet breakfast at the hotel, before departing for another day of touring. First stop will be at Kentuck Knob for a tour of the area’s second Wright-designed home, described by many visitors as “one I could live in.” Tour the area’s third and fourth Wright designed homes, The Duncan House and the Mantyla House. These homes each have an interesting history as they were both built in other states and moved to their current location at Polymath Park. Enjoy lunch at the Treetops Restaurant before a visit to the Flight 93 National Memorial. You will have time to view the Memorial Plaza with its wall of names of the 40 heroes of Flight 93, the indoor Visitor Center with many exhibits paying tribute to the heroes and the events of September 11, 2001 and the Tower of Voices.
