Motorcoach from Central PA to a local international airport for an overnight flight to Barcelona.
Saturday, April 3: Arrive in Barcelona
Welcome to Barcelona! After settling into your hotel, join your Travel Director and fellow travelers for a Welcome dinner with wine at a local restaurant. Hotel: Barcelo Sants, Barcelona (Welcome Dinner with wine)
Sunday, April 4: Barcelona, The City of Gaudi
With your Local Expert, explore the Gothic Quarter. Stroll along Las Ramblas and then head to the Passeig de Gràcia. Travel through the Eixample district to visit the Sagrada Família. Marvel at the central nave with its giant, tree-like pillars, spectacular vaulting and the beautiful rainbows created by the intricate stained-glass windows. Enjoy the afternoon with free time to explore on your own. Hotel: Barcelo Sants, Barcelona (Breakfast)
Monday, April 5: Along the Orange Blossom Coast to Valencia
After a relaxing start to the day we’ll stop at Peñíscola to see the sea-lapped castle used in the film ‘El Cid’. Then, continue to Valencia, the City of Arts and Sciences. Later, meet the chef of a local family-run restaurant in the heart of the Old City and learn the traditional recipe for paella during a Cooking Demonstration. Savor the delicious flavors of this classic dish, washed down with a glass of sangria, during your Highlight Dinner. Hotel: Barcelo Valencia, Valencia (Breakfast, Dinner with wine)
Tuesday, April 6: Sierra Nevada, Alhambra and on to Granada
Travel south toward Andalucía, passing the castle at Lorca and the troglodyte dwellings near Guadix to reach glorious Granada. This historic city was a Moorish kingdom for almost 781 years and was the last stronghold to fall to the Catholic monarchs of Spain in 1492. Overlooking Granada stands one of the most remarkable fortresses ever built, the Alhambra. Led by your Local Expert, explore this exquisite 13th century palace and stroll through the elegant water gardens of the Generalife. Hotel: Melia Granada, Granada (Breakfast, Dinner with wine)
Wednesday, April 7: A Scenic Drive to Seville
Your journey continues to Seville, capital of Andalucía and one of Spain’s most charming highlights. After arriving, the afternoon is free to explore on your own. Hotel: Melia Sevilla, Seville (Breakfast)
Thursday, April 8: Seville, The City of Carmen
After a relaxed start we’ll start the day with our Local Expert and journey to the Plaza de España. Next, we will visit Seville cathedral, burial place of Christopher Columbus. This evening we’ll enjoy a dinner with wine and be entertained by a traditional flamenco show. Hotel: Melia Sevilla, Seville (Breakfast, Dinner with wine)
Friday, April 9: Moorish Cordoba and on to Madrid
We’ll set off early and journey to Cordoba to see the famous 2,000-year-old Roman Bridge. Meet our local historian and visit the magnificent Mezquita, a beautiful 8th century mosque that mixes religions with a Christian cathedral built inside it. Enjoy time at leisure to stroll the narrow streets of the Old Jewish Quarter on your own before continuing to the capital - Madrid. Hotel: Barcelo Torre de Madrid/Hotel Hesperia, Madrid (Breakfast)
Saturday, April 10: Madrid of the Bourbons
After a relaxed start we’ll join our Local Expert for sightseeing along the noble avenues and have the opportunity to view the Cibeles Fountain, a monument to Cervantes in the Plaza de España. Next, we will journey to the Prado Museum with an art historian and enjoy works by Velázquez, Goya, Titian, Rubens and others. With the afternoon at leisure, perhaps enjoy an Optional Experience to beautiful Toledo? This evening join your Travel Director and fellow travelers at a local restaurant for a farewell celebration dinner of regional favorites, served with wine. Hotel: Barcelo Torre de Madrid/Hotel Hesperia, Madrid (Breakfast, Dinner with wine)
Sunday, April 11: Farewell Madrid
Depart Spain with fond memories and new friendships. We’ll transfer to the Bercelona airport for your flight back to the U.S. and transfers to Central PA. (Breakfast)

This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs, or on uneven walking surfaces, should be expected.

Air arrangements are handled by the tour operator. Seat assignments cannot be confirmed until the tour operator releases names to the airlines 30 days prior to departure. Specific seat requests cannot be guaranteed. Some flight schedules may contain code share agreements.
Temperatures in Spain during April average in the mid-70s. Casual clothes, comfortable walking shoes and a small umbrella are recommended.
One suitcase per person will be allowed. You may also bring a carry-on bag small enough to fit under your seat. Baggage fees and other charges may be directly assessed by airlines or airport.
For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the needed assistance.
