Sunday, August 22 – San Francisco

Tap into San Francisco’s iconic locations as well as its nooks and crannies that only locals know. Stroll down Alamo Square, home to the famous “Painted Ladies”, the famous “postcard row” of brightly painted Victorian houses. Then zigzag down charming flower-lined Lombard Street, known as the crookedest street in the world. This afternoon and evening you are free to enjoy the city on your own. You could enjoy a San Francisco Bay cruise or a Chinatown walking tour. (Breakfast)

Monday, August 23 – San Francisco to Napa/Sonoma

Leave your heart in San Francisco as you set out in search of Bacchus in California’s world-renowned wine country. Enjoy a lunch as you journey through the countryside sampling wine aboard the vintage rail cars of the Napa Valley Wine Train. Proudly continuing the railroad traditions of yore, the train offers a truly unique and memorable experience. The evening is yours to spend any way you prefer. Perhaps dine at one of the delicious restaurants on historic Sonoma Plaza. Hotel: Hampton Inn Napa or similar. (Breakfast and Lunch)

Tuesday, August 24 – Napa Valley Excursion

Enjoy a visit to an olive press in Sonoma where you will take a tour to learn about the harvesting process and the making of olive oil with a Local Specialist. Stroll historic Sonoma Plaza, planked by the Presidio and Mission San Francisco de Solano, the last California mission built. Enjoy lunch on your own and browse the unique gift shops that line the square. Later, visit a family-owned winery for an exclusive tour and wine tasting. Enjoy an evening at leisure to spend as you please. (Breakfast)

Thursday, August 26 – Lake Tahoe

After breakfast, step back in time as you ride along the Pony Express Trail to America’s largest historic landmark, Virginia City, where Mark Twain once roamed the streets and everybody wanted a piece of the “Richest Place on Earth”. Learning about the West Coast’s infamous Silver Rush is a true Cultural insight. Take some time to visit one of the mansions, museums, gold and silver stores, and see a real mine. This evening, enjoy an elegant sunset farewell dinner cruise on the lake, complete with wine, live music, and magnificent views. (Meals: Breakfast and Farewell Dinner)
