Monday, June 7, 2021 – French Quarter

This morning enjoy a panoramic city tour with a local guide. Start by seeing St. Louis Cemetery #3; opened in 1854. It holds some of the most elaborate crypts found in the city’s cemeteries. Relax during a drive along the shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain. This road eventually leads to St. Charles Avenue, whisking you past gorgeous mansions and two world-famous universities, Tulane and Loyola. This afternoon, it’s your choice! Take a walk-through history at the National World War II Museum and learn about the American experience in the war -OR- celebrate the festive side of New Orleans at Mardi Gras World. Come to know the history of this tradition while touring a working warehouse where artisans create spectacular floats for the famous parades. Tonight, learn how to cook New Orleans-style! During a cooking demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking, your chef will indulge you in everything Louisiana cuisine has to offer. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 – French Quarter

It’s your choice! Introduce yourself to the city’s famous French Quarter on a walking tour that features such sights as the majestic St. Louis Cathedral and the bustling French Marketplace, where you’ll explore Pirates Alley and view the Pontalba -OR- explore the exhibitions and galleries at the Historic New Orleans Collection followed by a visit to the Bevolo Gaslight Museum and Workshop. Then, head to Café Du Monde for a taste of a true New Orleans favorite – beignets! This afternoon, explore more of New Orleans on your own, or you may choose an optional excursion to Oak Alley Plantation to explore the rich history of the Antebellum South. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 – New Orleans

Set out on a drive along New Orleans’ historic Esplanade Avenue. Journey through the Louisiana swamp on a cruise* narrated by your captain. Learn about the ecosystem’s history and ecology while keeping an eye out for wildlife, from bald eagles to herons, turtles and alligators. Return to the city and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to discover more of New Orleans your way. You may opt to take a riverboat cruise on the mighty Mississippi. Tonight, immerse yourself in the flavors of traditional New Orleans during dinner at The Court of Two Sisters in the French Quarter. After dinner, discover for yourself why New Orleans is the “Birthplace of Jazz” during a roaring jazz revue at a local club in the French Quarter. *In cases of severe inclement weather, entrance to the Cabildo and Presbytere museums will be substituted in place of the swamp tour.

Thursday, June 10, 2021 – Return to Philadelphia

Your tour comes to a close today. Transfer to the airport after breakfast for your flight back to Philadelphia (Breakfast)

This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs, or on uneven walking surfaces, should be expected.

Travel Documents

After June 5, 2021-NON-REFUNDABLE

Insurance

For your protection AAA recommends travel insurance. Pre-existing medical conditions may be waived with proper coverage if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of initial deposit only. Other conditions may apply; ask your travel agent. AAA recommends Allianz.

Flight

Air arrangements are handled by the tour operator. Seat assignments cannot be confirmed until the tour operator releases names to the airline(s) 30 days prior to departure. Specific seat requests cannot be guaranteed. Some flights may contain code share agreements.

Clothing/Climate

Temperatures in New Orleans in June average in the 80s with rain possible. Pack for a variety of temperatures. Casual clothes that can be layered work best and comfortable walking shoes.

Baggage

One suitcase per person will be allowed. You may also bring a carry-on bag small enough to fit under your seat. Baggage fees are not included in the price of the trip. Baggage fees and other charges may be directly assessed by airlines or airport.

Travel Assistance

For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the needed assistance.
