Friday, December 4: Welcome to a Grand Christmas in Newport
6:00AM - Motorcoach will depart from Lancaster, AC Moore store, Lancaster Shopping Center on the Oregon Pike / Route 272 side of the store.
7:00AM - Depart from Harrisburg, AAA Central Penn, 2301 Paxton Church Rd; travel to Newport, RI with appropriate rest and meal stops enroute.
Welcome to Newport and celebrate the Christmas season in grand fashion! This weekend the glitter of gold and the sparkle of silver will dazzle you as we tour three magnificent mansions decked out in Yuletide finery. Music, tours, and spectacular decorations highlight the celebration of Christmas at the Newport Mansions. Enjoy holiday memories by visiting The Breakers, The Elms and Marble House this holiday season. Thousands of poinsettia plants, spectacular evergreens, trees, wreaths, fresh flowers and 19th century-style ornaments turn the houses and their grounds into a Christmas wonderland. Dining tables set with period silver and china, and mannequins dressed in authentic costumes complete the elegant setting. Early evening arrival to the hotel. Check in with time to freshen up and explore the beautifully decorated town of Newport with its many wonderful shops. Tonight we’ll enjoy dinner and be visited by a Jolly Ol’ Elf! Saturday, December 5: Ten Mile Drive Tour, Marble House & Holiday Evening at the Breakers
After breakfast, meet our guide and depart for a tour of Newport and the Ten Mile drive. Step back in time to the opulent era of the gilded age where elite families such as the Vanderbilt’s and Astor built their “summer cottages” to retreat from the city life. Journey along the Ten Mile drive viewing many of the magnificent mansions decorated for the holiday Season! Midday, enjoy free time along the waterfront for some holiday shopping at the many fine shops, boutiques and galleries that Newport has to offer. This afternoon, visit the Marble House to enjoy the magnificent holiday decorations as we tour this beautiful mansion. Return to the hotel to freshen up. Tonight, a very special evening is planned for us! Enjoy an early dinner before we spend a ‘Holiday Evening at The Breakers’. Enjoy live holiday music, sample holiday sweets, eggnog and cider and stroll the house at your leisure. Thousands of poinsettia plants, spectacular evergreen trees, wreaths, fresh flowers and 19th century-style ornaments will adorn this ‘summer cottage’. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Sunday, December 6: The Elms & High Tea
After a leisurely breakfast, depart for a visit to The Elms, decorated in its holiday glory. Then enjoy a lavish ‘High Tea’ at one of Newport’s Historic establishments. Afternoon departure for Central Pennsylvania with appropriate rest and meal stops en route. (Breakfast, High Tea)

This tour requires average physical activity. You should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground and cobblestoned streets.
$300 per person deposit due at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. Final payment is due to AAA by October 1, 2020.
Solo Travelers Rewards Club maximum voucher redemption: $50
A $25 per person cancellation fee will be charged by Discoveries in addition to any other supplier’s fees. From October 1, 2020 to day of departure no refunds.
For your protection AAA recommends travel insurance. Pre-existing medical conditions may be waived with proper coverage if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of initial deposit only. Other conditions may apply; ask your travel agent. AAA recommends Allianz.
Temperatures for Newport, RI in December average in the 40s. Casual clothes and comfortable walking shoes are recommended; be prepared for potential inclement weather.
