The city is famous for Parque Independencia (also known as Parque Central), a park fringed by royal palms and Victorian architecture.

Fun Things To Do:

  • Hop on a cable car for sky-high views, take a tour of the local cacao farms, and buy some of the clearest amber in the world.
  • One of the most popular beaches in Puerto Plata, Sosua is a stretch of fluffy sand with gorgeous transparent water.
  • There are also several restaurants to enjoy the local cuisine. If you’re looking for fruits of the sea, try a saucy Pescado con coco (fish in coconut sauce) and bars nearby to enjoy after your time on the beach.

If you’re after a little rest and relaxation during your cruise to St. Maarten, you’ll find plenty of secluded beaches where you can work on your suntan before treating your taste buds to some of the best cuisine in the Caribbean.

  • Loterie Farm is a nature sanctuary with 135 acres of hiking trails, a zip line adventure course, and a spring fed multi-level pool with cascading waterfalls.
  • Hike to the top of Mount Concordia, which marks the border between the French and Dutch sides of the island, for the best views of both sides.
  • Head to Front Street in Philipsburg, the capital of Dutch St. Maarten, and shop your way down a mile of duty-free stores. Before you go, pick up some famous guavaberry liqueur at the Sint Maarten Guavaberry Company.

All non-members must add $60 to the rate.

Rates are subject to availability at time of booking and include taxes, fees and fuel surcharges which are subject to change. All pricing and included features are based on a minimum of 25 full fare passengers. Desired pick-up location is not guaranteed until passenger minimums are met.

Do I need a passport?

U.S. citizens on homeport cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same U.S. port) are currently able to enter or depart the country with a state issued birth certificate with a raised seal and government-issued photo ID. While not required, AAA recommends traveling with an original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page for visa stamp(s).

How many bags can I bring

One suitcase per person will be allowed. You may also bring a small carry-on bag.

Do I need travel insurance?

The group air schedule is in economy class. Air upgrades are available by request only and are not guaranteed. Seat assignments are controlled by the airline. Specific seat requests cannot be guaranteed. Air upgrades may be available and are by request only and are not guaranteed. Any air upgrades or deviations must be requested at the time of the initial deposit.

What will the weather be like?

Temperatures for the Southern Caribbean in February average in the 80’s. Casual clothes and comfortable walking shoes are recommended; be prepared for potential inclement weather
