Mount Vernon by Candlelight Holiday Tour

Depart by motorcoach from Central, PA for the historic Mount Vernon grounds and Estate with a comfort stop en-route.*

*Early morning departure, time will be confirmed closer to travel.

Upon arrival, enjoy an included lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant. Following lunch explore the grounds of the Mount Vernon property including the slave quarters and dwellings. There will be plenty of time to take in the Museum, Education Center, and Gift Shop.

Then, as nighttime sets in, it’s time for the main event, a 45 minute candlelit guided tour of the estate. Learn about holiday traditions of 18th century Virginia, and hear stories of Christmases past from costumed character interpreters.  Explore the lantern-lit mansion by candlelight. After the tour, visitors can meet Aladdin the camel which is a Mount Vernon Christmas tradition! The evening also features a Revolutionary War encampment that illustrates Continental Army life in 1775. (Lunch)

After the candlelit tour depart back for Central, PA with fast-food dinner stop en-route.**

*Please be prepared for various weather conditions, as this event is an outdoor experience. A clear bottle of water is permitted, but gum, food, drinks, and backpacks are not allowed on the estate. For your safety, bags larger than 16x16x8 are prohibited. All bags will be screened.

*Please note: The mansion on the estate is not handicapped accessible and there are no elevators. There is a beautiful back porch with rocking chairs for anyone who is unable to navigate stairs. There is a significant amount of walking required on this tour including steep hills.
