Windshield Wiper Replacement
AAA Central Penn offers on-site windshield wiper replacement for AAA members. Visibility is critical to driver safety, and this new member benefit is being offered with safety and convenience in mind. Simply call the AAA roadside assistance line, 1-800-AAA-HELP, and request wiper blade replacement.
Our dispatch team will ask a few simple questions about your vehicle and then send a technician to remove your old blades and install the new ones. Best of all, you only pay for the wiper blades, the delivery and installation is included with your membership. Also, wiper blade replacement will not be counted as one of your roadside assistance service calls for the year.
When should you replace your wiper blades?
As a general rule windshield wiper blades should be replaced every six months or 6,000 miles. In Central Pennsylvania the temperature extremes of cold winters and hot summers could cause additional deterioration, so it’s a good idea to monitor wear and tear on your wipers.
- Wearing occurs when the blade’s square rubber edges become rounded. This happens after extensive use.
- Splitting occurs when ultraviolet rays from the sun penetrate the blade’s rubber squeegee, causing it to break down and separate from the blade frame.
- Streaking occurs when the wiper’s rubber squeegee dries, hardens and cracks.
- Skipping occurs when the blade develops a curvature due to underuse.
