Help Bring Comfort and Dignity to Children in Foster Care
AAA Central Penn is partnering with Bethany Christian Services to support local children in the foster care system through our Duffels of Comfort Donation Drive. Throughout the month of September, we’re collecting items that will help fill duffel bags with comfort items, personal care products, school supplies, and other necessities for children entering foster care. These bags provide children with something of their own during a challenging and uncertain time.
Most-Needed Donations
We’re seeking new, unused items such as:
Comfort Items
- Small stuffed animals
- Books for various ages
- Small games and puzzles
Personal Care Items
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Hairbrushes and combs
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Soap or body wash
- Deodorant (for older children)
- Diapers and wipes
Clothing
- New socks
- Pajamas (all sizes)
- Hats, scarves, and gloves
School Supplies
- Notebooks and journals
- Pens and pencils
- Colored pencils and markers
Other Helpful Items
- Reusable water bottles
- Flashlights with batteries
How to Donate
Donations will be accepted at all AAA Central Penn branch locations from September 1–30 during regular business hours.
We also created an Amazon Wishlist if you prefer to save a trip to the store and ship the items right to your local AAA Central Penn location! Please include your contact information on the gift tag to AAA, so we can confirm when the items are delivered.
Why It Matters
Many children enter foster care with very few personal belongings and often move between homes carrying their possessions in trash bags. These duffel bags help provide comfort, stability, and dignity while reminding children that their community cares about them. Bethany Christian Services supports children in foster care throughout AAA Central Penn’s service area and helps connect vulnerable children with safe, loving families.
