Juneau, Alaska

Arrive in Juneau at 1:00 pm, departing at 9:00 pm.

In 1880, it was slow going for Joe Juneau and Richard Harris as they searched for gold with the help of Native guides. After climbing mountains, forging streams, and facing countless difficulties, they found nuggets “as large as beans”. From their discovery came three of the largest gold mines in the world. Today, Juneau is famous not only for gold and government but also for its breathtakingly beautiful glaciers, such as the 13-mile-long Mendenhall Glacier, and stunning views of both water and mountains.

Fun Things to Do:

• Visit the amazing Mendenhall Glacier stretching from Juneau Icefield to Mendenhall Lake.
• Meet professional mushers and their amazing canine companions in an introduction to Alaska’s state sport.
• Take a tram ride to the top of Mt. Roberts for a panoramic vantage point 1,800 feet above the city.

Skagway, Alaska

Arrive in Skagway at 7:00 am, departing at 8:00 pm.

Skagway was the gateway to the gold fields for the thousands who flocked to Alaska and the Yukon with the hope of striking it rich. Skagway may have boasted the shortest route to the Klondike, but it wasn’t the easiest. Over 100 years ago, the White Pass route through the Coast Mountains and the shorter but steeper Chilkoot Trail were used by countless stampeders. It still retains the flavor of the gold rush era.

Fun Things to Do:

• Relive the color and history of the Yukon Gold Rush, tour the camps, pan for gold to see the what life was like during the boom town days in the 1800s.
• Journey on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad as you see breathtaking views of waterfalls, glaciers and the original Brackett Wagon Road and tormented Valley.

Glacier Bay National Park (Scenic Cruising), Alaska

Cruise Glacier Bay National Park from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Just west of Juneau, this breathtaking national park and preserve boasts some of the world’s most spectacular tidewater glaciers, such as Margerie Glacier, which often drops colossal chunks of ice into the sea. Not surprisingly, Glacier Bay National Park and its epic ice giants are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising Alaska’s magnificent park system. During your scenic cruise, friendly Park Rangers will join the ship to share their knowledge of this amazing place and host a fun Junior Ranger program for kids. They may even be able to help you identify Glacier Bay’s abundant wildlife, including humpback whales, sea otters, porpoises, harbor seals, black bears, mountain goats, bald eagles and large colonies of seabirds.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Arrive in Ketchikan at 7:00 am, departing at 2:30 pm.

Ketchikan is known as Alaska’s “First City” because it’s the first major community travelers come to as they journey north. Located on an island, Ketchikan began life as an Indian fishing camp. Visitors to Ketchikan will be intrigued by its rich native heritage, which includes the world’s oldest collection of totem poles at Totem Heritage Center. Ketchikan, with its abundance of salmon, is also a sport fishing paradise. Sightseers will be impressed with both the scenic town and its surroundings, especially Misty Fjords National Monument.

Fun Things to Do:

• Visit the Totem Bight State Park, the park is home to 14 totem poles, each telling their own story, and a replica of a 19th-century clan house, offering a look into the Tlingit and Haida Native Alaskan cultures.
• Experience this 40-acre rainforest reserve, is home to bald eagles, black bear, seals and a variety of birds, a live eagle display and a collection of totem poles.
• Take in the dramatic beauty of a land slowly crafted by the hands of nature. It encompasses more than two million acres of sheer granite cliffs, 1,000-foot waterfalls, and crystalline lakes.

Victoria, Canada

Arrive in Victoria at 9:00 pm, departing at 11:59 pm.

Victoria exudes old-world charm and fragrant, colorful flowers are everywhere. Founded in 1843 by James Douglas of the Hudson’s Bay Company, the city was first known as Fort Victoria. By 1848, Vancouver Island was a British colony and Victoria was its capital. When Vancouver Island was incorporated with mainland British Columbia in 1868, Victoria became the capital of the entire province. Although it’s a port city, Victoria is not as industrially oriented as Vancouver.

Fun Things to Do:

• Visit Victoria’s most popular attraction, Butchart Gardens. This 55-acre floral wonderland features themed botanical gardens, meandering pathways, refreshing fountains, exquisite foliage, and magnificent bronze statues.
• Explore the restored estate of Craigdarroch Castle, marvel at the antiques and furnishings, and stroll the opulent grounds. A Canadian National Historic Site, this Victorian-era castle was built between 1887-1890.
• Beacon Hill Park, a 62-acre oasis that is the crowning jewel in Victoria’s park system. A haven for wildlife, birds, and outdoor enthusiasts, the grounds are a combination of landscaped and natural beauty.

Transfer from the Seattle cruise terminal to the Seattle Airport for your return flight to Central PA.
