Depart on a motorcoach from Central PA to a local International Airport, before an overnight flight to Glasgow, Scotland.

 

Sunday, August 16, 2026: Glasgow, Scotland

After arriving in Glasgow, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace. In the evening, have dinner at a local restaurant and take in a piping demonstration and lesson. Hotel: Maldron Hotel Glasgow (Dinner)

Monday, August 17, 2026: Glasgow - Ballachulish

Stop at a local whisky distillery for a guided tour and tasting, and free time for lunch in a nearby town. Then, enjoy the view of Scotland’s scenic motorways as you travel to the town of Ballachulish, located on Loch Linnhe. Hotel: Ballachulish Hotel (Breakfast, Dinner)

Tuesday, August 18, 2026: Ballachulish - Isle of Skye - Ballachulish

Wednesday, August 19, 2026: Ballachulish - Loch Ness - Thurso

Travel further into the highlands and stop at the striking ruins of Urquhart Castle, before enjoying a cruise on the famous Loch Ness. Afterward, travel to Thurso, one of Scotland’s most remote coastal towns. Hotel: Castletown Hotel (Breakfast, Dinner)

Thursday, August 20, 2026: Thurso - Orkney Islands - Thurso

Take a ferry* to the historic Viking Stronghold off the north coast of Scotland, where if you’re lucky you may see seals and porpoises during the crossing. On the island, a local guide will show you the sights of an ancient neolithic village, and the prehistoric Standing Stones of Stenness. Saturday, August 22, 2026: Inverness - Pitlochry - Edinburgh

Visit a family run farm in the heart of the Highlands, where you will see sheepdogs hard at work surrounded by the wilderness of Cairngorms National Park. Continue on to Pitlochry for leisure time on your own, before ending the day in the capital city of Edinburgh. Visit Edinburgh Castle, home to the Scottish Crown Jewels, on a walking tour. Before that, enjoy a panoramic tour of Edinburgh. Reservations made after this date are subject to availability and rates are subject to potential increase.

Cancellation Penalties

February 16, 2026 – May 16, 2026             $698 per person

May 17, 2026 – July 30, 2026                     40% of total cost per person

July 31, 2026 – August 14, 2026                 75% of total cost per person

On or after August 15, 2026                        100% of total cost per person

Tour Activity Level: 3

Moderate: Good mobility is required for this trip. Climbing stairs and standing for 2-3 hours at time, as well as walking on uneven terrain may be necessary. Portions of the itinerary may include higher altitudes. The itinerary may involve longer days up to 12-14 hours in length. This activity level is not recommended for travelers with significant mobility concerns.

Travel Assistance

What travel documents do I need?

Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page for visa stamp(s) is required for this trip. Please see your Travel Advisor for additional information.

As of the publication of this brochure, all travelers visiting or transiting through the United Kingdom (Including England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) are required to obtain a UK ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization). This also applies to itineraries with layovers in the UK.

Please note that the UK ETA is not included in the cost of your trip, and it is the responsibility of each traveler to secure this authorization prior to departure. Please see your Travel Advisor for additional information.

Where will my seat be on the plane?

Air Schedule will be shared once available. Group air schedule is in economy class. Seat assignments are controlled by the airline. Specific seat requests cannot be guaranteed. Air upgrades may be available and are by request only and are not guaranteed. Air upgrade requests may not be on the same flight schedule as the rest of the group and must be requested at the time of the initial deposit. Air arrangements are handled by the tour operator. Seat assignments cannot be confirmed until the tour operator releases names to the airline(s) 30 days prior to departure. Some flights may contain code share agreements.

Do I need travel insurance?

For your protection, AAA recommends travel insurance. Pre-existing medical conditions may be waived with proper coverage if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of initial deposit only. Other conditions may apply; ask your travel agent. AAA recommends Allianz.

What will the weather be?

Temperatures for Scotland in August average in the low 60s during the day, with some portions of your tour taking place in regions with heavy wind. Warm, layered clothing is recommended.

How many bags can I bring?

One suitcase per person will be allowed. You may also bring a carry-on bag small enough to fit under your seat. Baggage fees are not included in the price of the trip. Baggage fees and other charges may be directly assessed by airlines or the airport.
