Saturday, September 19, 2026 Reading and Jim Thorpe, PA

*Early Morning Departure – exact timing will be confirmed closer to travel.

Depart Central, PA by motorcoach and travel to Reading, PA.

Arrive in Reading for a train ride on the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railway to Jim Thorpe, PA, to take in the sights and views of the beautiful seasonal fall foliage. 

Following your train ride, you’ll have lunch at the Broadway Grille.* After lunch, continue by taking a round trip train ride on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. When you arrive back in Jim Thorpe, board the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railway once again to take the journey back to Reading. 

Enjoy dinner at the Saucony Creek Franklin Station Brew Pub before making your way back to Central, PA via motorcoach.

*Due to the train schedule, the included dessert at the Broadway Grille may be taken “to-go” and enjoyed onboard the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway.

Based on the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania membership status:

Current Member –  $399.00
Non Railroad Member  –   $419.00

All pricing and included features are based on a minimum of 30 passengers. Rates are subject to availability at time of booking and included taxes, fees, and fuel surcharges which are subject to change. Desired pick up location is not guaranteed until passenger minimums are met.

Payment Schedule

Full payment of $399 (Friends of the Railroad Museum Members) or $419 per person (non-members) is due to AAA to confirm your reservation.

Cancellation/Penalties

After July 31, 2026, No refunds.

This Ramble is subject to cancellation due to insufficient and/or late registration. Please contact the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania or go online at www.rrmuseumpa.org for membership options. Included in these rates is $20.00, which is a contribution to the nonprofit Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. This amount is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. (Contribution may be less if the minimum number of passengers is not achieved.) The $20.00 non-member fee in these rates is also a contribution to the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

Tour Activity Level: 3

Moderate- Good mobility is required for this trip. Climbing stairs and standing for 2-3 hours at a time, as well as walking on uneven terrain may be necessary. Portions of the itinerary may include higher altitudes. The itinerary may involve longer days up to 12-14 hours in length. The activity level is not recommended for travelers with significant mobility concerns.

Travel Assistance

For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the needed assistance.
