The Primary member is the initial holder of the membership. The Associate members may be a spouse or dependent children living in the household of the Primary member.

Associate members must change their status from Associate Membership to Primary Membership if they:

  • No longer reside with the primary member at their primary residence

What Roadside Assistance does a AAA Membership cover?

You might know AAA best for providing roadside assistance services to stranded motorists. The membership benefits follow the member, not the vehicle, so even if you are in a friend’s car or rental car, you can still call for assistance. With membership, you can make up to four service calls per year, for any of the following reasons.

  • Minor mechanical adjustments: Small repairs to get your vehicle back safely on the road
  • Battery services: Testing, providing a battery boost or battery replacement if needed
  • Flat tire services: Replacement with an available spare tire or towing to a nearby service station for tire replacement
  • Fuel delivery: We deliver gas to your vehicle if you’ve run out; you’re responsible for paying current fuel prices for delivered fuel
  • Locked key retrieval: We include locksmith services for up to $50
  • Towing services: If the above services cannot get your vehicle safely back on the road, we’re happy to tow it to a nearby service station

Does AAA cover any car I drive?

Yes, AAA membership covers the driver, not the car. You are covered in any car that you are driving or riding in, provided that it’s an eligible vehicle. The Basic and Plus memberships cover four-wheel passenger vehicles, including rental cars. The Plus/RV membership also covers motorcycles, motor homes, dual-wheel pickup trucks, etc. If you wish to receive more information, you can reach us at 1-800-717-4222.

Is my AAA membership connected to my vehicle?

Whether you’re driving your car or you’re the passenger in someone else’s, your AAA benefits stay with you, not a particular vehicle. This includes rental cars. A membership with AAA gives you the freedom and ease of protection, no matter who you ride with or what vehicle you drive.

I’ve traded cars since I joined AAA. What must I do to delete the auto I’ve sold and add the new automobile I’ve purchased?

You do not need to do anything when you get a new car. Just like a driver’s license, your AAA membership covers the individual named on the membership card, and not a specific vehicle. In the event you are the passenger in a car that breaks down, you can call AAA for road service (as long as you are with the car when the tow truck arrives).
