Help Bring Comfort to Foster Children: Donate Items for Care Packages
Every day, children enter the foster care system with little more than the clothes on their backs. Many are forced to carry their few belongings in garbage bags as they move from home to home. We believe these brave children deserve better, and we're asking for your help to make a difference.
Our Mission: Duffels of Comfort
For the month of October, we're collecting donations to fill duffel bags with comfort and personal care items for children in our local foster care system. These bags will not only provide essential items but also give these children something of their own to keep – a small beacon of stability in their often-turbulent lives.
How You Can Help
We're seeking donations of new items to fill our duffel bags. Here's what we need:
1. Comfort Items:
- Soft blankets or throws
- Stuffed animals
- Books appropriate for various ages
- Small games or puzzles
2. Personal Care Items:
Toothbrushes and toothpaste- we have received enough of these, thank you!- Hairbrushes and combs
- Deodorant (for older children)
Soap and body wash- we have received enough of these, thank you!Shampoo and conditioner- we have received enough of these, thank you!- Diapers and wipes
3. Clothing:
- New socks
- New underwear
- Pajamas in various sizes
- Hats, scarves and gloves
4. School Supplies:
- Notebooks and journals
Pens and pencils- we have received enough of these, thank you!- Colored pencils or markers
5. Miscellaneous:
- Reusable water bottles
- Flashlights with batteries
How to Donate
You can drop off your donations at any AAA Central Penn location during our operating hours. We also created an Amazon Wishlist if you prefer to save a trip to the store and ship the items right to your local AAA Central Penn location.
Our Partner
Bethany Christian Services assist local children in the foster care system throughout AAA Central Penn's 9-county region. Right now there are about 15,000 children in the foster care service in Pennsylvania alone. To learn more about their services, go to Bethany.org. Every child deserves to be loved.
