Friday August 21, 2026: Chicago

Transfer from Central PA, to a local airport for a flight to Chicago, Illinois. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel and settle in for the evening as you get ready for your amazing vacation. Hotel: Hyatt Regency Chicago

Saturday August 22, 2026: Chicago

Begin with a locally guided tour of Chicago's remarkable architecture. Highlights include Michigan Avenue, the "Magnificent Mile," the Wrigley Building, and a walking tour through Millennium Park. The remainder of your day is at your leisure. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at the legendary Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, a historic landmark building with a storied past and ties to Al Capone. Sunday August 23, 2026: Chicago - Grand Rapids, Michigan

Travel north as we make our way to the city of Grand Rapids. In the afternoon, take time to explore the many gardens, greenhouses, and art exhibits of the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Hotel: Canopy by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown (Breakfast)

Monday August 24, 2026: Grand Rapids - Mackinac Island

Enjoy a scenic drive before arriving at Mackinaw City, where you will have time to explore before boarding the ferry that will take you to Mackinac Island. Upon arrival, both the island and your hotel are National Historic Landmarks. Over eighty percent of the island is preserved by Mackinac State Park, a woodland paradise ringed by Lake Huron. After dinner at your hotel*, the evening is yours to enjoy. Hotel: Grand Hotel (Breakfast, Dinner)

*The Grand Hotel experience includes dressing up for dinner. After 6:30pm ladies should wear a dress, skirt and blouse, or pantsuit and gentlemen are required to wear a coat and necktie. Evening wear is required in all areas of the hotel expect the Cupola Bar, where casual dress is acceptable any time. 

Tuesday August 25, 2026: Mackinac Island

Climb aboard a horse-drawn carriage for an island tour including stops at the Surrey Hills Carriage Museum and Arch Rock. After the tour, savor some time to enjoy the brilliant views of Mackinac Island, or take a walk downtown to visit the shops. At night, dine at the elegant Salle a Manger, then enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to the sounds of the Grand Hotel's orchestra. Hotel: Grand Hotel (Breakfast, Dinner)

Wednesday August 26, 2026: Mackinac Island - Bay City

Enjoy leisure time at the Grand Hotel and in town before departing for riverfront accommodations in Bay City. In the evening, enjoy a walk down the river, or explore downtown. Hotel: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bay City (Breakfast)

Thursday August 27, 2026: Bay City - Frankenmuth - Southfield

Explore the architecture of Alden B. Dow's home and studio during a guided tour. This legendary architect's home is a designated National Historic Landmark, and is the peak of Mid-Twentieth Century Architecture. Next, visit the quaint town of Frankenmuth, known as "Little Bavaria," and the largest Christmas Store in the world, Bronner's. Hotel: Westin Hotel Southfield Detroit (Breakfast)

Friday August 28, 2026: Southfield - Dearborn - Southfield

Visit Dearborn, hometown of Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company. Visit the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village for an experience in living history. Learn how the automobile forever changed American life and society as you explore the Henry Field Museum. At Greenfield Village, take in the historic homes and see the workshops of American icons like the Wright Brothers, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Robert Frost. Enjoy a farewell dinner in the evening, and toast the end of a wonderful journey. Hotel: Westin Hotel Southfield Detroit (Breakfast, Dinner)

Saturday August 29, 2026: Southfield

Your tour ends today as you travel home from Detroit Metropolitan Airport full of happy memories. (Breakfast)

Tour Activity Level 3:

Moderate: Good mobility is required for this trip. Climbing stairs and standing for 2-3 hours at a time, as well as walking on uneven terrain may be necessary. Portions of the itinerary may include higher altitudes. The itinerary may involve longer days up to 12-14 hours in length. This activity level is not recommended for travelers with significant mobility concern.

Payment

A deposit of $698 per person will confirm your reservation. Final payment is due to AAA by  May 8, 2026.

Cancellation Penalties

From February 22 - May 22, 2026                         $698 per person plus any additional suppliers' fees

May 23 - August 5, 2026                                       40% per person plus any additional suppliers' fees

August 6, 2026 to August 20, 2026                        75% per person plus any additional suppliers' fees

August 20, 2026 or later                                         100% non-refundable

Flight:

Air arrangements are handled by the tour operator. Seat assignments cannot be confirmed until the tour operator releases names to the airline(s) 30 days prior to departure. Specific seat requests cannot be guaranteed. Some flights may contain code share agreements.

Insurance

For your protection, AAA recommends travel insurance. Pre-existing medical conditions may be waived with proper coverage if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of initial deposit only. Other conditions may apply; ask your travel agent. AAA recommends Allianz.

Clothing/Climate

Temperatures for Illinois and Michigan average in the mid-70s during the day, and as low as the mid-50s at night during August. Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended, as this trip requires significant time spent outdoors. Please see specific requires for dress at the Grand Hotel above in the itinerary section of this brochure. 

Baggage

One suitcase per person will be allowed. You may also bring a carry-on bag small enough to fit under your seat. Baggage fees are not included in the price of the trip. Baggage fees and other charges may be directly assessed by airlines or the airport.

Travel Assistance

For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing for those needing assistance.
