Itinerary

Sunday, August 18, 2024: Arrive to Seattle -Tacoma

Transfer by motorcoach to a local airport for a flight to Seattle, WA to begin your Pacific Northwest experience. Upon arrival, meet your tour director and depart for Tacoma and you hotel. After checking in, enjoy some free time to relax. In the afternoon, join the group for touring of the Museum of Glass. The Museum of Glass has been committed to creating space for the celebration of the studio glass movement through nurturing artists, implementing education, and encouraging creativity. In the evening, join the group for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Hotel: Hotel Murano or similar, Tacoma, WA (Dinner)

Monday, August 19, 2024: Lake Quinault - Kalaloch 

Depart Tacoma and travel to Lake Quinault for sightseeing and hiking in the Quinault Rain Forest. The Quinault rain Forest is a temperate rain forest located in the valley formed by the Quinault River and Lake Quinault. The valley is called the " Valley of the Rain Forest Giants" because of the number of record size tree species located there. The largest specimens of Western Red Cedar, Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock, Alaskan Cedar and Mountain Hemlock are found in the forest, as well as five of the ten Largest Douglas-firs. The forest receives an average of 12 feet of rain per year. It is believed to be the area with the greatest number of record size giant tree species in the smallest area in the world. A picnic lunch will be included today. In the afternoon, travel to the coast, enter Olympic National Park and arrive at beautiful Kalaloch Lodge for a two night stay. After checking in, the evening is free to explore the beach and have dinner on own. Hotel: Kalaloch Lodge or similar, Kalaloch WA (Breakfast, Lunch)

Tuesday, August 20, 2024: Hoh Rain Forest - Kalaloch

Today you will have time to explore the beaches and the rain forest trails in the area. Enjoy a wonderful hike in the Hoh Rain Forest. After a stop at Ruby Beach, return to Kalaloch Lodge with the rest of the day free to explore the area. There are miles of beaches, tide pools, Kalaloch Creek and a rain forest trail. There are also lawn games as well as board games available at the lodge or you can just relax and enjoy the scenery!  (Breakfast)

Wednesday, August 21, 2024: La Push - Forks - Sol Duc - Port Angeles 

Today enjoy the coastal section of Olympic National Park as you travel to La Push and Rialto Beach for a beautiful hike along the coast and the Pacific Northwest Trail to Hole in the Wall. Next, stop in Forks, the town made famous by Twilight, with time for lunch on your own. In the afternoon, travel to Sol Duc Hot Springs for a short hike to Sol Duc Falls followed by a swim in the hot springs. Your day concludes as you arrive in Port Angeles for the night. Dinner will be included at a local restaurant. Hotel: Red Lion hotel or similar, Port Angeles, WA (Breakfast, Dinner)

Thursday, August 22, 2024: Hurricane Ridge - Port Townsend - Friday Harbor

Experience more of Olympic National Park as you travel to the top of Hurricane Ridge for wonderful scenic views and hiking on one of the many trails. Next make your way to beautiful Port Townsend with free time to wander through the fun shops and have lunch on your own. In the afternoon, take the Port Townsend Ferry and on the other side enjoy touring Fort Casey Historical State Park. Stand at the Admiralty Head Lighthouse or in a cliff-side gun battery and scan the horizon, as the enlisted men must have done during World War I and II. Continue north to the seaside town of Anacortes and board the ferry for a scenic ride through the San Juan Islands as you make your way to Friday Harbor. Check into your hotel for a two night stay. The evening is free to explore the town and have dinner on your own.  Hotel: Earthbox Inn or similar, Friday Harbor, WA (Breakfast)

Friday, August 23, 2024: Whale Watching - San Juan Island

This morning, start the day with an exciting San Juan Islands and Whale Watching Cruise. You will look for Orca whales, bald eagles, seals, porpoises, sea lions, Humpback Whales, Minke whales and more, as the captain tells you about the history, wildlife and geology of the area. Return to Friday Harbor with free time for lunch on your own.  Later in the afternoon explore more of San Juan Island with your guide, including possible hiking, beach walking and sightseeing. The evening is free to explore and have dinner on your own.  (Breakfast)

Saturday, August 24, 2024: Friday Harbor - Seattle

The morning is free for optional activities such as kayaking, hiking, fishing, cycling, ect. Later in the day, depart Friday Harbor via Ferry returning to Anacortes and then travel south to Seattle. Enjoy sightseeing in Seattle including Pike Place Market and the world famous Space Needle. Enjoy a fun farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Hotel: Doubletree Seattle or similar, Seattle, WA (Breakfast, Dinner)

Sunday, August 25, 2024: Journey Home

After Breakfast, transfer to the Seattle airport by hotel shuttle for your flight home and transportation back to Central, PA. (Breakfast)

To truly experience the program and destination, you need to be able to participate in physical activities such as longer walking tours, walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and periods of standing. Some of the touring days may be longer, with select included activities occurring later in the evening.

Travel Documents

A valid government issued photo I.D. (drivers license or Passport) is required for airport security. 

As travel policies are rapidly changing as a result of COVID-19, final requirements will be communicated prior to departure. Please see your Travel Advisor for additional information. 

Payment

Deposit of $250 will confirm your reservation. Final payment is due to AAA by  June 5, 2024

Cancellations Penalties

Deposit date to day of departure- $25 per person plus....


After June 5, 2024- NON -REFUNDABLE

Flight

Air arrangements are handled by the tour operator. Seat assignments cannot be confirmed until the tour operator releases names to the airline(s) 30 days prior to departure. Specific seat request cannot be guaranteed. Some flights may contain code share agreements.

Insurance

For your protection AAA recommends travel insurance. Pre-existing medical conditions may be waived with proper coverage if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of initial deposit only. Other conditions may apply; ask your travel agent. AAA recommends Allianz. 

Clothing/Climate

Temperatures in the Pacific Northwest in August average in the upper 70's and can drop into the 50's in the evening. Casual Clothes that can be layered work best. Comfortable walking shoes and a small umbrella are recommended. 

Baggage

One suitcase per person will be allowed. You may also bring a carry-on bag small enough to fit under your seat. Baggage fees are not included in the price of the trip. Baggage fees and other charge may be directly assessed by airlines or airport.

Travel Assistance

For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion is capable of and totally responsible for providing the needed assistance.
