Itinerary

Friday, March 14: Travel to San Diego, California
Transfer by motorocach to the airport for a flight to San Diego. Upon arrival in San Diego, meet your Tour Director and transfer to your hotel for five nights in “America’s Finest City.” San Diego is known for its Mediterranean climate and coastal scenery. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers at an Old Town restaurant including a local brewery beer or a glass of wine. San Diego has come to be known as “The Craft Beer Capital of the World” with over 150 breweries, tap rooms, tasting rooms, and its own beer, the West Coast IPA.  Hotel: Embassy Suites San Diego Bay Downtown or Hilton Garden Inn San Diego Old Town (Dinner)

Saturday, March 15: San Diego City Tour - USS Midway Museum - Harbor Cruise
This morning enjoy a San Diego City Tour to see the waterfront, Downtown, Gaslamp Quarter, Pt. Loma with Cabrillo Monument, historic Spanish Old Town, Heritage Park Victorian Village (filled with 1890’s homes), and Coronado Island. This afternoon visit the impressive USS Midway Museum, the retired aircraft carrier was in service from 1945-1992 and saw action in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Later enjoy a San Diego Harbor Cruise featuring a narrated tour that takes you under the Coronado Bridge, past military ships, waterfront landmarks and marine life for an up-close, in-depth look at San Diego’s beauty and fascinating history. Dinner tonight is included at a local restaurant. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Sunday, March 16: Palm Springs - Temecula Valley Winery
Today travel to the desert to visit Palm Springs. Upon arrival enjoy a Palm Springs City Tour which takes you through the “Old Movie Colony,” Las Palmas, Racquet Club Estates and others to view celebrity homes claimed by legendary stars like Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, Sonny & Cher, Bob Hope, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Liberace, Nat King Cole, Dinah Shore and more! Relax during some leisure time for a bit of shopping and lunch on your own in downtown Palm Springs. Later, enjoy the scenery as you travel to the picturesque Temecula Valley to visit a local winery for a Wine Tasting Experience. The Temecula Valley features over 40 wineries offering award-winning wines due to its micro-climate of morning mist, midday warmth and cool ocean breezes. Return to your hotel for an evening on your own to explore the city at your own pace. (Breakfast)

Monday, March 17: San Diego Zoo
This morning drive through scenic Balboa Park en-route to visit the world famous San Diego Zoo, housing 4,000 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies on 100 acres of beautiful gardens in Balboa Park. During your visit enjoy an open air double decker guided bus tour around the massive and iconic zoo known for its immersive exhibits and endangered species breeding efforts. The late afternoon and evening are at your leisure to enjoy San Diego. (Breakfast)

Tuesday March 18: Pacific Surfliner Train - San Juan Capistrano - La Jolla
All aboard the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Train for coastal views on your ride from Downtown San Diego north to San Juan Capistrano. The rail experience travels through the famous Camp Pendleton Marine base. Arrive & explore the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano, established more than two hundred years ago. Famous for the Annual Return of the Swallows, the mission is the “Jewel of the California Missions.” This afternoon travel by motorcoach south along the famous beaches of San Diego and pass
by Torrey Pines Golf Course. Then stop in picturesque La Jolla for leisure time to wander, shop or maybe visit the famous La Jolla Cove. Tonight your farewell dinner is at a local restaurant in San Diego. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Tuesday, March 19: Depart San Diego - Travel Back to Central, PA
Your Southern California journey comes to and end today. Come away with fond memories of the area and the tranquil places visited. Transfer to the airport for your flight and transportation back to Central, PA.  (Breakfast)

This tour requires moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, upstairs, or on uneven walking surfaces, should be expected.

A valid government issued photo ID (drivers license or passport) is required for airport security.

Payment
A deposit of $400 per person will confirm your reservation. Final Payment is due to AAA by  November 27, 2024.

Flight
Air arrangements are handled by the tour operator. Seat assignments cannot be confirmed until the tour operator releases names to the airline(s) 30 days prior to departure. Specific seat requests cannot be guaranteed. Some flights may contain code share agreements.

Insurance
For your protection, AAA recommends travel insurance. Pre-existing medical conditions may be waived with proper coverage if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of initial deposit only. Other conditions may apply; ask your travel agent. AAA recommends Allianz.

Clothing/Climate
Temperatures for Southern California in March range in the low to high 60's with cooler nights in the 50s. Casual clothes that can be layered work best. Comfortable, waterproof walking shoes are a must and a small umbrella is recommended.

Baggage
One suitcase per person will be allowed. You may also bring a carry-on bag small enough to fit under your seat. Baggage fees are not included in the price of the trip. Baggage fees and other charges may be directly assessed by airlines or airport.

Travel Assistance
For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing needed assistance.
