Following the writer’s strikes of 2023 the studio release schedule faced disruptions, leading to major films like Dune: Part 2, and the latest Ghostbusters to be rescheduled for 2024. Consequently, this year’s film lineup is brimming with highly anticipated releases. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated films to look out for in 2024.

Mean Girls – January 12

Regina George is back, and this time it's Renee Rapp from Broadway stepping into the iconic role for this musical Mean Girls remake. Get out your Wednesday pink and get ready, this is a blockbuster you won't want to miss.

Lisa Frankenstein – February 9

Crafted by acclaimed writer Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body), Lisa Frankenstein is a love story chronicling the journey of a misunderstood teenager and her infatuation with a handsome corpse. Following a series of playfully horrific events that bring him back to life, the duo sets out on a murderous quest in search of love, happiness, and a few absent body parts along the way.

Dune Part 2 – March 1

Denis Villeneuve's highly anticipated sequel, delayed by last year's Hollywood strikes, is finally making it to the big screen. This second installment marks the culmination of Frank Herbert’s original novel adaptation. Alongside returning stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, the cast welcomes new faces, including Florence Pugh, and Christopher Walken.

Mickey 17 - March 29

Bong Joon Ho makes a return to the director’s chair for the first time since Parasite took the world by storm. Bong’s latest sci-fi venture is an adaptation of the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. Robert Pattinson stars as a space explorer who undergoes cloning with his memories preserved each time he dies.

Civil War - April 26

A24’s most extravagant project to date, Alex Garland (Ex Machina) directs a high-stakes sci-fi thriller where the United States finds itself entangled in internal once more. Real-life couple Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons share the screen alongside Cailee Spaeny and Wagner Moura.

The Fall Guy – May 3

This action-comedy is a big screen take on the 1980’s tv show of the same name. Ryan Gosling stars as Colt Seavers, a former stuntman who finds himself back in service when A-lister Tom Ryder mysteriously disappears from a movie directed by Seavers’s ex-girlfriend.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga - May 24

Furiosa explores the origins of the one-armed badass rebel who helped save Mad Max in Fury Road. Snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers, young Furiosa falls into the hands of a great biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. Furiosa soon finds herself in a nonstop battle to make her way home.

Ballerina - June 7

The latest in the John Wick franchise, this spin-off follows Rooney (Ana de Armas) as a deadly dancer who’s seeking vengeance after her family is brutally murdered. The cast also includes John Wick regulars Keanu Reeves, Ian MacShane, and Lance Reddick.

A Quiet Place: Day one – June 28

The prequel to John Krasinski’s post-apocalyptic thriller takes a journey back to ground zero, and the immediate aftermath of the alien invasion that seizes control of our planet. While specifics about this latest entry are yet to be announced, expect another trilling chapter in this gripping saga.

Inside Out 2 - June 14

Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions. Riley, the once 11-year-old protagonist at the heart of Pixar's emotionally resonant masterpiece, is now navigating the challenges of young adulthood. Familiar faces Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness {Phyllis Smith,) and Anger (Lewis Black,) are joined by new emotions in this next chapter of Riley’s journey.

Deadpool 3 – July 26

While the full details of this third Deadpool movie haven’t yet been released, we do know the admantium-clawed mutant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) will be joining Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) on the big screen. Directed by Shawn Levy, this is the only movie in the Marvel Universe scheduled to be released this year.

Beetlejuice 2 – September 6

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beat-…Tim Burton resurrects his spooky 1988 comedy alongside original cast members Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara. " Prepare for a return to Burton's creepy and whimsical universe in this highly anticipated sequel.

Gladiator 2 – November 22

Ridley Scott returns to the arena in the sequel to his epic 2000 film, Gladiator. Early rumors suggest the film will follow grown-up Lucius (Paul Mescal,) nephew to the original’s Commodus. Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi reprise their roles as Lucilla and Gracchus, while Joseph Quinn, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, and Fred Hechinger join the fray in a battle that’s bound to captivate us once again.

Wicked Part 1 – November 27

Broadway’s record-breaking musical is coming to the silver screen with Cynthia Erivo as the Wicked Witch, Ariana Grande as Glinda, and Jeff Goldblum as the man behind the curtain. This enchanting journey is split into two films, with part 2 slated for release in late 2025.

Nosferatu – December 25

Horror film director Robert Eggers’s long anticipated film is an ode to the 1922 silent classic about a vampire wreaking havoc in London. Lily-Rose Depp stars as heroine Ellen Hutter with Willem Dafoe as vampire-hunter Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz.
