We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with One Tree Planted! Our goal is to plant 1,000 trees to restore degraded forests and preserve land in the Appalachia region.
From April 1 to April 30, 2024, AAA Central Penn will fund the planting of one new tree for every car battery recycled by our Roadside service, or brought into a branch for recycling.1 Every tree makes a positive impact for nature, wildlife, and communities. We are honored to support reforestation with One Tree Planted as part of our commitment to sustainability.

- Lead car batteries have the highest collection and recycling rate of any type of battery.
- 100% of lead car batteries can be recycled.
- Our partner at East Penn Canada reports that they recycle an average of 30,000 lead car batteries daily, or 11 million car batteries kept out of landfills annually.
- Using an EPA-approved recycling center, we recycle every lead battery we replace.

About One Tree Planted
One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is dedicated to global reforestation. They plant trees to restore nature and biodiversity. They also raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment.
The Appalachia Region Overview & Impact
Home to the namesake Appalachian Trail, more than 150 tree species can be found in the region, making it one of the most diverse ecological regions in North America. Unfortunately, the resource wealth of the region also means much of the forest has been degraded by mining and timber operations. Over the years, an estimated 83% of habitat has been lost. However, with an ever-growing tourism industry environmentally conscious organizations and businesses are stepping up to return the region to its former glory.
Reforestation in Appalachia will help restore forests degraded by natural disasters and human activity. Planting trees here will also benefit nearby communities as hydrological function will be improved, thus providing them with better quality water. This project also creates meaningful jobs in communities suffering from high rates of poverty and unemployment. Our planting partners are also implementing conservation practices to ensure the forests are maintained sustainably for many more years to come.

From April 1 to April 30, 2024, AAA Central Penn will donate $1 to One Tree Planted for every AAA branded battery purchased through AAA Central Penn battery service or brought into a branch for recycling, up to a maximum of $1,000. Qualified purchases include those made via AAA roadside services, at participating NAPA locations, participating Approved Auto Repair facilities, or online using AAA’s battery delivery program. One Tree Planted is an environmental 501©3 non-profit tree planting charity that will plant one tree for every dollar donated.
