ITINERARY

Monday, December 9: Depart for the Greenbrier Resort  

8:00AM: Motorcoach will depart from Lititz,  Penn Cinema, 541 Airport Road, Lititz.

9:00AM: Depart from Harrisburg, AAA Central Penn, 2301 Paxton Church Rd; travel to White Sulphur Springs, WV with appropriate rest and meal stops en-route.

Welcome to the Greenbrier, a National Historic Landmark and world-class resort, which has been welcoming guests from around the world since 1778. Every day from the beginning of November through the New Year, this seasonal extravaganza brings a new line up of spirit to the resort's activity schedule ranging from musical performances, holiday movies in the theater, winter craft workshops, tree ceremonies, and much more. Tuesday, December 10: Greenbrier Bunker Tour, Time to Enjoy the Resort

After a delightful breakfast we'll meet our guide for the declassified Bunker Tour, a must-see experience that takes you behind the scenes and walks you through a fascinating period in the resort's history. Carved deep into the mountainside beneath the West Virginia Wing is an emergency Cold War fallout shelter which was once a top-secret U.S. government relocation facility for Congress that you'll get a unique and in depth look behind the hidden doors to learn its secrets and how it was kept hidden for more than 30 years.  

Spend the rest of your day enjoying the grounds and activities available at this luxury resort.  You may choose to have afternoon tea, view a culinary demonstration, visit the Presidents Cottage Museum, experience the Greenbrier Casino Club (you will receive $20 free slot play) shopping, and much more.  Tonight enjoy an included dinner.  (Breakfast, Dinner)

Wednesday, December 11: Depart for Central Pennsylvania

After breakfast you will have some free time before departing for Central Pennsylvania with appropriate comfort stops en-route. (Breakfast)

This tour requires average physical activity. You should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground and cobblestoned streets.

Travel Documents

A government-issued photo I.D (such as a driver’s license) is required for this tour. 

As travel policies are rapidly changing due to COVID-19, final requirements will be communicated prior to departure. Please see your Travel Advisor for additional information. 

Payment

$300 per person deposit due at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. Final payment is due to AAA by  September 1, 2024.
 

Cancellation/Penalties

A $25 per person cancellation fee will be charged by Discoveries in addition to any other supplier’s fees. From   September 1, 2024 to day of departure no refunds.

Insurance

For your protection AAA recommends travel insurance. Pre-existing medical conditions may be waived with proper coverage if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of initial deposit only. Other conditions may apply; ask your travel agent. AAA recommends Allianz.

Clothing/Climate

Temperatures for West Virginia in December average in the 40s. Casual clothes and comfortable walking shoes are recommended; be prepared for potential inclement weather. Greenbrier Dress Code: Resort attire is required (collared sport shirts, sweaters, jackets, dress slacks and walking shorts, well-kept denim in dark shades) Dinner Dress Code: Ladies and Gentlemen in their finest, Jacket and tie required for men and dresses or evening suits for women. Men's hats and baseball caps are not permitted. 

Travel Assistance

For personal comfort, group participants who need assistance are required to have a traveling companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the needed assistance.
