Spend the day exploring George Washington’s beloved Mount Vernon Estate on the banks of the Potomac River. While at Mount Vernon, experience an introduction to George Washington and the exhibits at the Museum and Education Center. Journey on a self-guided tour through the blacksmith, slave quarters, greenhouse, outbuildings and the beautifully decorative upper garden. This afternoon enjoy a lunch of classic American favorites in the colonial inspired setting at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant. Following lunch make your way to the famed mansion for your guided tour. Built in 1735 by George Washington’s father Augustine, at 11,028 square feet and 21 rooms, it is known to be one of America’s most iconic homes. Your tour of Mount Vernon reveals a unique picture of the colonial American life. Before departing for home embark on a narrated sightseeing cruise (if available) on the Potomac River where you’ll experience Mount Vernon from a different perspective. Learn about the river’s history and discover how it contributed to Washington’s business ventures.

5:30PM: Depart for Central Pennsylvania with a fast food rest stop en route.

8:30PM: Approximate arrival time back in Harrisburg.

9:30PM: Approximate arrival time back in Lititz.

Itinerary is subject to change at any time without notification and or compensation.

*Please note: the mansion on the estate is not handicapped accessible and there are no elevators. There is a beautiful back porch with rocking chairs for anyone who is unable to navigate stairs. There is a significant amount of walking required on this tour including steep hills. There's a shuttle from the Education Center to the dock and it typically runs approximately every 30 minutes.

Tour Activity Level: 3
This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs, or on uneven walking surfaces, should be expected
